Head of Learning Area - Languages and Te Ao Māori/Tikanga Māori - Dilworth School

We are seeking an experienced practitioner to lead this important aspect of our school, including classroom teaching of Te Reo Māori and Te Whare Tapere, and driving Tikanga Māori through the full school. The role is also responsible for leading and managing a small team of classroom teachers and Te Whare Tapere and Kapa Haka practitioners. They will oversee the language's curriculum including the delivery of Sign Language, Tongan and Samoan - and possibly other languages in the future - on a module basis.

Reporting to the Director of Curriculum, the successful candidate will enjoy access to a wide range of resources, the scope to grow and further develop the knowledge and skill of students and staff in Te Reo Maōri and Tikanga Māori and join a supportive and well-resourced team.

You will be an experienced and registered teacher with advanced Te Reo Māori teaching skills and a strong understanding of Te Ao Māori and Tikanga Māori. You will be comfortable and capable of teaching students from Years 7 to 13, including scholarship. Leadership and management skills are preferred but we are open to hearing from all candidates who have proven experience in this area with the potential to lead.
